  • What is comfort zone?

If you do only stuff you used to do – it’s boring. Does it feel like a comfort zone if it’s boring?

To enjoy your time you need to try to do something you never tried before.
It’s an anticipation of a new experience, something that gives you a thrill, a thrill that you are on the edge of discovering something new – this is the point of enjoyment.

And this is your actual comfort zone.

  • Write short

“Brevity is the sister of talent.” – Anton Chekhov.

People don’t have time to read long rants.

I know… you was taught in school that… the longer your opus – the better mark. It’s like if you wrote something short you didn’t give a proper time for a writing. Short article is the sign of laziness, right?

  • The most important client

Can you make your clients happy?

    Let’s check it out.

The most important client of yours is you.
And the question is – are you happy? If you cannot make yourself happy – how can you make happy someone else? I mean truly happy – kinda happy doesn’t count.

“Learning how to live is much more important than learning how to make a living.” – Warren Buffett

Marketing starts with making happy oneself.

  • A wiseass opinion or a teacher one? Both!

There are two types of critics:
from a teacher and from a wiseass.
    For example:
    A Teacher would say:
“Make reading a habit, I just sit in my office and read all day.” – Warren Buffett
    A Wiseass would say:
“In my whole life, I have known no wise people (over a broad subject matter area) who didn’t read all the time—none. Zero. You’d be amazed at how much Warren reads—and how much I read.” – Charley Munger

Both are saying about the same – it’s just different worlds but meaning pretty much the same.
    But…

  • The Magic Of Micro Efforts

About 15 years ago I used to go to the library every day (including weekends) for 1 year. I didn’t work at the time at all – I was just spending all my days reading books.

Sometimes I was really not in the mood for reading and was skipping many days in a row. After that I was scolding myself for the time wasting.

One day I said to myself: “Ok. I will go to the library. I will choose 10 books. I will browse them a little. And if nothing will really attract my attention I’ll  leave the library”.

Guess what?  80% of times that trick made me enjoying the reading for all day long.

It was quite a small effort, right?
But could it be even smaller. I mean if you must to do something but have no desire – how small effort could be to do the trick?

“Dr. B. J. Fogg, founder of the Persuasive Technology Lab at Stanford University, wrote his graduate dissertation with a far less aggressive commitment. Even if he came home from a party at 3:00 A.M., he had to write one sentence per day. He finished in record time while classmates languished for years, overwhelmed by the enormity of the task.” – Tim Ferris, “4-hour body”.

Can you imagine? Just one sentence a day?

Lately I tried to play with the trick for many months.  I wrote quite a lot of stuff. It’s a real snowball.
The most important thing is that one sentence a day is a must – no skipping, no excuses. If you will forget to do it once – for the next week start a day with writing a sentence right after waking up: don’t let you do anything in the morning until you finish the task. And wait for a snowball to roll.

  • Don’t tell just name. Tell a story

I meet a guy the other day. His name is Brayn Lee. And this is his story.

His friends tell him that he suppose to make up an international name because it’s good for business. Name that’s easy to remember. He came up with a name Brayn. And now even his friends call him Brayn.
